Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have been together for decades, but their relationship has included plenty of unexpected and funny moments along the way.

“When you roll up to the drive-thru in Florida and the woman handing you your lunch says, \u2018I used to date your husband,\u2019 you don\u2019t need to know anything else,” Kelly joked<\/p>\n

The couple, who eloped in Las Vegas on May 1, 1996, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. During an appearance on the I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario<\/em> podcast, Mark opened up about the lesson his father taught him that helped shape his approach to marriage.<\/p>\n

Recalling advice from his father, Saul Consuelos, Mark said he was encouraged to find someone who would challenge him, support him and ultimately make him a better person.<\/p>\n

His father told him to find someone who was \u201cbetter than you\u201d and someone who could \u201cpull you up\u201d and help him grow. Mark said he was fortunate enough to find that person in Kelly.<\/p>\n

The couple has also shared plenty of humorous stories about their past. During an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em>, Kelly recalled an awkward but hilarious encounter with one of Mark’s former girlfriends.<\/p>\n

While stopping at a drive-thru in Florida, the woman serving Kelly casually revealed that she had once dated her husband. Kelly joked that a moment like that leaves you with very little need to ask any more questions.<\/p>\n

Despite the unexpected encounters and the ups and downs they’ve experienced over the years, Mark and Kelly have built a lasting relationship that has now spanned three decades.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
