Doctors were left stunned when an elderly woman arrived at the emergency room with what appeared to be a severely infected scalp wound — until they realized it was moving. After closer examination, medical staff discovered more than 200 live larvae buried deep inside the blackened cavity. Living alone and unable to care for the injury, the woman had unknowingly allowed the infestation to grow to a horrifying extent. Surgeons immediately began removing the larvae one by one, followed by intensive cleaning and antibiotics to save her life.
